We have set up this year's partnership with Botanical Interests to raise funds for the garden through seed sales. All we have to do is purchase, and urge friends to purchase, flower and vegetable seeds through Botanical Interests using the below link and we will automatically receive a portion of all sales generated: http://www.botanicalinterests.com/store/register_affiliate.php?AffiliateId=22 People can also go to http://www.botanicalinterests.com/nonprofits.php and select Edna Maguire School and start ordering.

Their product really is unique. Their seed packets aren't just paper envelopes with seeds in them; they have HUGE amounts of information - enough to make even the novice gardener successful. The packet itself is gorgeous - they use very detailed painting instead of photographs. The seed quality is surpassed by none and is UNCONDITIONALLY guaranteed. They have over 500 varieties, all chosen with growing for the home gardener the primary focus. 120 of the 500 varieties are certified organic. All 500 varieties are untreated with pesticides. There is something for everyone. For example, they have Catgrass (for anyone with cats). They have a drought tolerant flower mix. They have herbs such as many different basils, cilantro, and more. They have lettuce mixes (which are quite expensive in the grocery stores). Don't hesitate to review their website for additional tidbits of information. They are a family owned business, not a multi-national corporation so they are passionate about their product and it shows in the quality. So start planning your garden and urge your friends, neighbors and relatives to do likewise and remind them they are helping our Children's Garden to grow!

Next week is Giving Tree Week at Edna Maguire Elementary! All are welcome to come plant an apple tree (and garden clean up, too!)
on Saturday, January 19 between 9:00 a.m. and noon. We look forward to
sharing this special landmark day with the community!
We are gathering to celebrate the one year "rebirth" in the Mill
Valley Children's Garden by replanting one dozen heirloom apple tree
whips. All trees are "giving trees," particularly the very special
apple trees in our garden, which through the years have yielded
thousands of pieces of fruit for our children. They provide shelter
from the sun and sanctuary for the birds. Planting a tree with a child
and watching it grow over the years is a memory we should all cherish.
We have that wonderful opportunity again here at Edna Maguire. It
happened for the first time in 1998, when the original apple orchard
was planted. Today, many parents still visit and recall their memories
of that day. Come and make your own memories!
