We'll be throwing our annual back-to-school collating party in the Edna multi-purpose room, and you're invited! Please stop by to help assemble back-to-school packets.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year - Steeplechase - happens in early October. We are in need of a few volunteers. If you are interested, please contact Christine Freda at email@example.com or by telephone at (415) 367-5187.
Shadow for T-Shirt Coordinator: works with Steeplechase Chair and T-shirt company to facilitate the t-shirt order. This includes: submission of t-shirt design and sponsor logos, working with Lisa Zimmer to determine correct number and sizes of t-shirts for both staff and students, proofreading t-shirt content and placing order, and distribution of t-shirts. You would be working with Lin Porter as a shadow this year to fill her role for Steeplechase 2015. This can be a two-person team.
Course Set-Up: This person arranges for rental of both truck and equipment needed to set up the Steeplechase course on Alto Field. Helpers will be arranged through the Steeplechase Committee to help with unloading of the truck, setting up of the course and dismantling the course when Steeplechase is over. Most of the job is on the day of Steeplechase, which is October 10, 2014.
Awards and Recognition Coordinator: This person organizes the parties that classrooms with 100% participation win by communicating and scheduling with teachers and providing the treat. This person also prints certificates for students who have raised the most money or brought in the most pledges - both school-wide and at the individual grade levels. This person also organizes the Award Luncheon that the winning students will have with Lisa Zimmer. This is a good job for someone with a flexible daytime schedule.
Pledge Packets: We are in need of an additional person who will assist in getting the pledge packets assembled. With 600 students, this is no longer a one-person job. All packets will be done prior to our Steeplechase Pep Rally in early September, but can be done at home, over a weekend, etc.
Please consider filling one of these roles. Steeplechase raises so much money for our school and it can't be the success it has been in the past without parent volunteers.
Join schools all over the world in biking or walking to school on Wednesday, May 7. We will have our monthly Welcome Tables out front with a prize and treat for participants. If it's too far, drop-off at the Community Center or 250 Camino Alto (parking lot behind The Cantina) and they can walk or bike on the path to school.
- Be sure to wear your Edna Gear to show our pride in our school.
- Please carpool if you can't walk or bike.
- Walk all bikes on campus.

On the front lines and behind the scenes, Edna administrators Leslie Fielder and Suzie Wickham do so much for our kids and school. They deserve our appreciation ALL the time, but especially during Administrative Professionals Week. Please stop by the office to thank them for all they do!
It has come to our attention that some basic rules of Car Line are not being followed. In order for the Car Line to work smoothly, safely and quickly, we need everyone to cooperate. This includes staying off the phone, having your kids ready to exit the car in the morning and most importantly, staying in your vehicle. Please respect the volunteers who are out there - their main concerns are keeping your kids safe and keeping the line moving. One parked vehicle makes both of those things harder. The Car Line Policy is linked for your reference. Please share it with other family members, caregivers, and friends who drop off or pick up your children.
The Edna Maguire Lost and Found is now located behind the Multipurpose Room (MPR), on the Marin Day School side. Lost items are donated after two weeks.
If you have any questions please contact Simone Slattery or Julie Kennedy.

The Edna Nominating Committee is holding a coffee cart on Thursday, March 13 from 8-9 a.m. outside the kindergarten classrooms. There will be a list of the current open Board and Chair positions for you to browse. You will find many types of jobs that require different levels of commitment. We would love to have you on this team of positive, energetic parents who make Edna a wonderful school community. All positions are volunteer, so even if you are not sure you want to commit to anything, stop by for some coffee and friendly conversation. Dads are encouraged!
Spots are filling up quickly, so don't delay if you are interested! And, if you would prefer not to head up a committee or help on the PTA Executive Board, we are taking early sign ups for volunteers to help on any of these committees. See current available positions here.
Please email ednamaguirePTApositions@gmail.com.
